In 1868, in Ripa Ticinese (MI), Francesco Pozzi and his sons began to produce, on an artisan scale, hard porcelains, refractory material and terracotta. In 1906 Francesco Pozzi moved production in Gattinara (VC) under the name of MANIFATTURA CERAMICA POZZI SPA. Within a few years the company became the absolute leader in the production of ceramics for the building, going from initial 6 workers in 1907 to 1,300 in the years after the war.
In the late ’50s, during the economic boom, in view of a differentiation of production, MANIFATTURA CERAMICA POZZI SPA diversified itself devoting to various branches of production, most notably that of the production of paints for industry and building with brand POZZI VERNICI. The brand soon reached its moment of maximum production and commercial expansion, becoming the absolute leader in Italy and in the world. In the wake of this success, the company built a production site of excellence in the locality Sparanise (CE). The plant, designed by the internationally renowned architects Figini-Pollini, was considered an “architectural gem” for those years.
Pozzi-richard ginori binomialIn 1975, the MANIFATTURA CERAMICA POZZI SPA brought together the RICHARD-GINORI, another company rich in history and that had its roots in the second half of the eighteenth century, with the production of sought ceramic objects with particular and aristocratic aesthetic.
In the 90s, POZZI VERNICI was enhanced with the acquisition of INCORA, a leading brand in the market of paints for the building in Italy, whose business history dated back to the late nineteenth century. The INCORA acquisition allowed the company to further strengthen its market position and to create an offer stronger, richer and more competitive, transforming itself, in a subsequent period, in the POZZI COLOURS company.
In the same years the factories were properly transferred from Sparanise to Sessa Aurunca, where today, the company operates on an area of about 120,000 square meters. With this transfer it began a new phase of modernization of facilities and laboratories, with the use of cutting-edge technologies that determined a flexible production in line with market needs, expanding its range, in addition to historical sectors of building and industry, even to the bodywork and to boating.
